Euphoria Effigy Design
Euphoria was a regional burn event held in northern Georgia, based on the 10 principles set forth by Burning Man. I was selected to design and build the effigy, the centerpiece art structure that gets burned Saturday night as the culminating event of the weekend celebration of art. Over the course of 12 weeks, I managed a volunteer team of 30+ people that helped build my vision.
The structure was 18 feet tall and 27 feet wide. The radically inclusive design was accessible for disabled participants, which was a first for the event’s history. The outside featured video projections onto the skin, incorporating various types of art, while the inside was painted to mimic a campfire at twilight, with sunset colors fading up the walls and a decorated center panel featuring wood-burned designs.
